This is a map of the whole of Germany as it was in the 1600s,
including Belgium and the Netherlands, Austria and Czechoslovakia,
and parts of Poland, Switzerland and Hungary.
Running along the top of the map are eight illustrations of important cities,
including Frankfurt (Francfurt am Main), Cologne (Coln),
Nuremberg (Nurnberg) and Strasbourg.
To the left and right hand sides of the map are illustrations
of the men and women of the region wearing native costume:
of Nobles, Merchants, Bohemians, Helvetians and Countryfolk.
